NordXE CEO Anu Honkalinna gives perspective on the digital currency market on Fyggex's Crypto Industry Insiders interview. Anu is an experienced leader in insurance and finance business, and shares expertise in several advisory boards of start-up businesses as well as mentoring different start-ups and innovations through Fintech Finland, Helsinki Challenge and KasvuOpen programs. Anu was introduced to some blockchain initiatives and joined a number of Initial Coin Offering initiatives (ICOs) during 2017 and 2018. "Back then, it became clear that the regulatory environment wasn't ready for ICOs at that time, because the applicable legislation and requirements were not clear and it was not possible to launch these ICO businesses with the certainty of correct law interpretation."
Anu believes the crypto industry is maturing and therefore requires some regulations to attract a broader audience to invest in cryptocurrencies. She reveals NordXE's plans to expand its regulatory scope to a multilateral trading facility (MTF) and emphasizes the importance of trust and easy access to crypto investing. "NordXE wants to create a simple, clear and trusted on and off-ramp for those looking to invest in digital assets." Anu thinks customers deserve a level playing field, and this is what NordXE can offer. "Our target is to start trading cryptos and CO2 compensation certificates on our platform by the end of this year. We are already building a process where different providers offer their customers the opportunity to compensate the CO2 emissions they create. We are also looking at other asset types, which could be traded on our platform, physical gold and game tokens, for instance. We, of course, have securities trading on our roadmap and this will be available when we receive our MTF licence (multilateral trading facility). The MTF licence from the Finnish FSA basically allows us to offer anything that can be traded in digital format on our platform."

NordXE has a strong vision, and Anu sees the market regulations as a positive development believing NordXE is well-positioned to adopt to the new regulations and open up the possibilities for regulated digital access trading for traditional as well as existing crypto investors. Currently, NordXE offers B2B solutions for different digital assets such as game currency and CO2 offset asset and is planning to launch the beta version of its exchange platform by the end of the year 2020.
